RECALL INFORMATION – ADULT PFD TYPE 1

As a result of a Transport Safety Victoria investigation, Jarvis Walker is initiating a product recall for some of our PFDs labelled as ADULT PFD TYPE 1. The product was sold under three separate codes, and two brands:

Single unit code 241050 Platinum brand
Sold from July 2011 to December 2015

Single unit code 56000 JW Brand
Sold from January 2012 to December 2015

Twin pack code 241300 JW Brand
Sold from August 2014 to October 2017

Kmart K/C 42076063

Regardless of the brand, all have the single unit marking of “PFD TYPE 1”

Defect: The Waist strap in the affected PFDs that secures the PFD to the wearer is only attached to the left hand side of the device. The waist strap is not attached to the right hand side of the device.

Hazard: If not secured correctly the waist strap may slip from the position and cause the device to become ill-fitting on the wearer. This may affect the function of the affected PFDs so that depending on the circumstances, it may not keep the wearer in a safe floating position.

What to do: Consumers should immediately stop using the Block PFD and contact Jarvis Walker via phone or email.
